Hey everyone, my name is Cameron, and today I’m going to go over some tips to help with getting into your marching season! Throughout the band hall there are many different things and people that will help you with starting off your marching season.

1. Resources throughout the Band Hall

In the band hall all along the walls are all the lockers where you will be able to store your items and instrument cases. The lockers are split up into your sections and each person has their own locker like in middle school.

In the hallway before reaching the band hall, there will be two tables that usually have papers that are important for the marching and concert season. During our marching season this is the table where you could find your music cheat sheets that will help mark your music as well as extra important forms that you might have lost. On one of these tables we usually keep a bin full of sunscreen and bug spray if you need it.

Throughout the season we will be turning in many different papers from permission forms for competitions or dropping off a check. Usually many of those will go in a lock box that is in Sealy’s office, which is immediately left from opening the door. In certain cases there may be a bin to turn in papers if a quick turn around is needed.

In the band hall there is a large whiteboard that will have a daily schedule of where you need to be throughout the day. We mainly use this during Summer band camp, but throughout the season you can find some important information from there.

2. Have your own Resources

Bringing your own things is very important throughout the whole entire season. Not only will this help you but could also help out your friends. Some things you should grab before coming to band camp is: Sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, water, hair ties, and pencils. In the case that you forgot or lost something and you need to borrow, do not be afraid to ask your leaders for help. Each section as well as the Drum Majors have extra hats, sunglasses, and other things that they can lend you.

3. Who to ask

Throughout the season you will be apart of your own section which really

turns into another large family of your own. It’s important to learn everyone in your section because you could form everlasting bonds between them. Each person in every section all want to see you succeed and would answer any questions you’d have.

Each section has a Section Leader and Squad Leaders to help guide you through your marching season. They can help you with any problems and in many cases will be the ones who you will interact with most while in mini camp and later summer band camp.

Along with the leadership team for your section, the upperclassmen are another great source of information. Everyone that is a sophomore and up have performed a show which leads to a whole another set of unique experiences that could help you if need be.

Drum Majors and Officers are some of the people that work directly with the directors to make sure everything runs smoothly for the band. Their goals are to make sure you have a good time and that you get all the information you need, so any of them would answer any questions happily.

I hope with this added information on how things are done any of your questions were answered, but if not please feel free to talk with us under the More tab and then click on Contact.
